Our Fall mini conference took place a few weeks ago on Saturday, September 30th and was a great success! The mini conference was attended by 120 guests from around the tri-state area, making it the most packed conference to date! Presenters included many of Rennert’s own, including Autumn Westphal (yours truly), Head of Teacher Training; Terence Helsel, Director of Studies; and Chris Berry and Selina Josephs, two of our SIT licensed teacher trainers. Cynthia Wiseman, the Business Manager for NYS TESOL and Noga La’or, Director of ESL Programs at Long Island University were also on the schedule. You can find the full event program here.
The theme of this fall’s conference was engaging and motivating instruction. Therefore workshops were held on topics such as teaching empathy, managing and motivating learners in multi-level classes and engaging grammar games. All attendees of the event received the materials for all the workshops given. If you were not able to attend, I would love to share the materials from my workshop on Multi-Level classes with you. You can access the hand out from the session here and the PowerPoint here. I hope you find them useful!
We had various exhibitors from top English Language publishing houses distributing samples of course books as well as presenting on newly published materials. Regina Snyder from Cambridge University Press, Cheri Allen from National Geographic Learning and Rob Renner and Sara Davila from Pearson English were all in attendance sharing ideas and resources with attendees.
Guests described the conference as “always full of practical ideas,” containing a “great variety of topics which are well presented,” and providing a forum to “grow and learn from each other.”
We are happy to have received such positive feedback about this conference and look forward to hosting everyone at the next one. Hope to see YOU there!
